A reward of £10,000 is being offered to assist in locating a suspect who is believed to have escaped to Turkey after brutally killing his romantic rival. Crimestoppers is providing the reward and urging individuals to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of Ceyhan Dinler, aged 38. It has been disclosed in court that Dinler fled the country in November 2024 following the fatal stabbing of Cumali Turhan in Chelmsford, Essex. Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe of Essex Police emphasized the importance of obtaining justice for Turhan’s family.

Turhan, aged 45, was fatally stabbed in the neck after being subjected to torture on November 19, 2024. Dinler reportedly discovered Turhan’s secret relationship with his girlfriend, leading to the violent altercation. Evidence suggests that the two men were seen together at a pub just before the tragic incident. Shockingly, parts of Turhan’s body, including his tongue tip and genitals, were mutilated and discarded. The investigation revealed signs of torture inflicted while Turhan was still alive. Following a 47-day search, Turhan’s body was located at a landfill site in Colchester.

Metcalfe affirmed the relentless efforts made to find Turhan’s body and now to locate Dinler. Another individual, Ciprian Ilie, was sentenced to seven years in prison for his involvement in the disposal of Turhan’s body. Ilie assisted in placing the victim’s body in a bin, which was later taken to the landfill site. The trial revealed an ongoing conflict between Dinler and Turhan concerning a mutual love interest.

Phil Breckton, the regional manager at Crimestoppers, assured the public of complete anonymity for anyone providing information to help locate Dinler. The urgent need for justice for Turhan’s family was emphasized, and Breckton highlighted the significant impact individuals could make by assisting in this tragic case.

CCTV footage aired in a Channel 4 documentary captured Turhan and Dinler at a bar shortly before the suspected murder. The men engaged in a heated discussion before leaving together. Subsequent footage suggests that Dinler may have enticed Turhan to another location where the fatal attack took place. The severity of the crime shocked investigators, with Metcalfe expressing disbelief at the gruesome nature of the incident.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to contact Crimestoppers anonymously, with the reward offer expiring on 6 April.
