A teenage darting phenomenon, Mitchell Lawrie, has amazed Luke Littler with his exceptional skills at the WDF World Championship held at Lakeside. Lawrie, only 15 years old and born in 2010, made history by becoming the youngest player to triumph at Lakeside by defeating Tomoya Maruyama and Jason Brandon in impressive fashion.

Lawrie’s exceptional performance included hitting five maximums, showcasing remarkable checkouts, and achieving a tournament-high average of 97.21. Reacting to Lawrie’s success on the WDF Darts Instagram account, Littler expressed his admiration by stating, “This kid is a joke.”

After his victory over Brandon, Lawrie expressed his elation, describing his win as a significant achievement given Brandon’s experience and previous success at Lakeside. Lawrie highlighted the importance of his fast start in the match and his overall satisfaction with his performance.

Lawrie’s dominance was evident as he swiftly finished legs in the first set within less than 15 darts, narrowly missing a potential nine-dart finish but impressively closing with a 134 checkout. Despite a brief setback when Brandon surged back, Lawrie regained his focus, crediting the supportive crowd for his success.

Reflecting on his match, Lawrie acknowledged a slight lapse in concentration but quickly recovered to secure the win. When questioned about his nerves during crucial moments, Lawrie dismissed any anxiety and attributed a missed opportunity to external distractions from the crowd.

Looking ahead, the PDC World Darts Championship is set to commence on December 11, offering fans the chance to watch every match live exclusively through Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
