A surgeon allegedly shot his ex-wife and her new spouse after threatening her, according to police. The incident occurred in Columbus, Ohio, where the bodies of Monique, 39, and her husband Spencer Tepe, 37, were found. Michael McKee, Monique’s ex-husband and a practicing surgeon from Illinois, was arrested and charged with aggravated murder and burglary.

McKee, who faces a potential life sentence if convicted, has pleaded not guilty. Witnesses reported that McKee had threatened Monique, claiming he could harm her anytime and even mentioned buying the house next to hers. Additionally, Monique had allegedly mentioned instances of abuse by McKee in the past.

Security footage showed McKee breaking into the couple’s home weeks before the incident. Monique had expressed distress over her ex-husband’s behavior to friends. McKee and Monique were previously married for two years, citing “incompatibility” for their divorce. Spencer, a dentist, married Monique in 2021, and they had two children together.

Emergency services found the couple alive in their home, where a silenced gun was used in the incident. Tributes described the couple’s relationship as beautiful and happy. Family statements expressed a commitment to seeking justice and protecting the couple’s children.

Friends remembered the couple as friendly and welcoming, expressing disbelief over the tragic events. The investigation continues as McKee faces legal proceedings.
