Several Taylor Swift songs have been taken down from social media videos shared by U.S. President Donald Trump’s campaign and the White House, which had utilized two of the popular singer’s tracks in the past week. The White House and a spokesperson for Swift did not provide immediate responses for comment. While Swift has not recently addressed Trump, she did endorse his Democratic opponent, then Vice-President Kamala Harris, in 2024. Amid the 2020 campaign, Swift expressed on social media her displeasure with Trump as president. Trump, on the other hand, has criticized Swift numerous times. After her endorsement of Harris, he openly declared his dislike for Swift on social media. Various artists, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also urged the Trump administration not to use their music. The Trump campaign featured two Swift songs on its TikTok page over the last week, one of which referred to famous Swift tracks. In a recent video, Trump was depicted interacting with children, attending a UFC match, and appearing at a rally, all set to Swift’s song “I Knew It, I Knew You” from the imagined “Toy Story 5.” This marked the third instance in recent months where Trump’s campaign or administration had incorporated Swift’s songs. In a separate video shared by the White House, images of the U.S. flag, monuments, and Trump himself were set to another Swift track, “The Fate of Ophelia,” from her album “The Life of a Showgirl.” This video also included a mocked-up mugshot of Trump’s supposed 2023 arrest. Following these posts, a White House spokesperson mentioned that the videos were designed to attract media attention. Trump’s communications team, active on social media, has shared various hit songs alongside images related to Trump’s policies and events.
