If you prefer using Chrome as your browser, it is recommended to go to the settings, verify your current version, and promptly restart the application.

This advisory follows Google’s recent release of an update addressing six vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser. Alarmingly, one of these vulnerabilities has been identified as a zero-day threat, indicating that cybercriminals are already exploiting it.

The issues have been rectified, but it is crucial to ensure you are running the latest version – 138.0.7204.157/.158 for Windows and Mac, and 138.0.7204.157 for Linux.

According to security experts at Malwarebytes, “Google has rolled out an update for Chrome to fix six security flaws, including a zero-day vulnerability.” This update is essential as it mitigates an actively exploited vulnerability that can be leveraged when users visit malicious websites without requiring any additional user interaction to compromise their systems.

To check your browser version, simply click on Chrome in the menu bar and select About Chrome. If there are pending updates, restart the software promptly.

This latest warning comes after a previous alert urging users to update their browsers earlier this month due to another zero-day vulnerability discovery.

In addition, security analysts have highlighted that millions of Chrome users were targeted by fake extensions, putting them at risk of attacks. Those impacted are advised to reset their Chrome software entirely and clear their browsing data.

Google has confirmed the removal of all affected extensions, ensuring that new users are not at risk of infection.
