O2, the UK mobile network now under Virgin Media, is spreading holiday joy by offering millions of customers an extra 10GB of mobile data for free this December. This bonus data boost, automatically added to eligible users’ accounts and the MyO2 app, comes with no usage restrictions, allowing for activities like movie streaming, photo sharing, and video calls on services like FaceTime.
The giveaway is exclusively for Pay Monthly customers, excluding those already on Unlimited plans or business tariffs. Christian Hindennach, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Media O2, emphasized the importance of staying connected during the festive season and expressed gratitude to customers for being on O2.
The additional 10GB data could support approximately 20 hours of video calls, streaming 2,000 songs, or enjoying around four and a half hours of HD content on platforms like Netflix or Disney+. This gesture follows O2’s announcement in light of Ofcom’s report showing a 10% increase in UK mobile data consumption in 2025 compared to 2024, totaling a massive 1.2 billion GB monthly.
With the holiday season in full swing, this initiative aims to bring a little extra cheer to customers and facilitate seamless digital interactions with loved ones.
