After being apprehended by American special operations forces in Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro has unexpectedly become a trendsetter in the fashion world.

Taken into custody by the elite Delta Force of the United States during a covert mission, Maduro was transported to the country. Following his capture, a photo surfaced showing Maduro in US custody aboard the USS Iwo Jima, sporting a blindfold, ear protection, and a Nike Tech tracksuit.

The Nike tracksuit worn by Maduro quickly sold out shortly after President Donald Trump shared the image on Truth Social. The surge in popularity of the £109.99 Nike Tech fleece and matching £89.99 bottoms, often favored by athletes and musicians, has led to the outfit being dubbed the ‘Maduro fit’.

A meme generated by artificial intelligence featuring the politician in the tracksuit with the Nike slogan ‘Just Do It’ has gone viral, sparking humorous commentary on social media about the attire choice. Observers jokingly remarked on Maduro’s unexpected sporty look while being apprehended.

Despite his initial stylish appearance, Maduro was later seen in New York dressed in all black attire with socks and sandals, and subsequently in orange prison overalls.

Accompanied by his wife Cilia Flores, President Maduro appeared in court in Manhattan, where they both faced charges of narco-terrorism conspiracy and cocaine importation conspiracy. Maintaining his innocence, Maduro asserted his position as the president of his country during the court proceedings.

The indictment also includes charges of possession of machine guns and destructive devices, as well as conspiracy related to these offenses. President Maduro and his wife were captured in a nighttime military operation that resulted in casualties, according to a Venezuelan official.
