A tragic incident unfolded as a newlywed woman survived a harrowing motorway crash, only to meet a fatal end when a lorry collided with her as she exited the overturned vehicle shortly after the initial accident. Samara Prado Martins, 24, who had recently married Thiago Oliveira Martins, miraculously survived the first collision but tragically lost her life when a large truck struck them on the road in Ponta Grossa, Parana, Brazil, on December 29.
The couple’s car had overturned on the BR-376 motorway’s hard shoulder, leading to their escape from the vehicle. However, they were struck by the oncoming lorry that failed to stop in time. While the woman succumbed to her injuries at the crash site, her husband was rescued and airlifted in critical condition to a hospital in Ponta Grossa, where he remains in a serious state, receiving medical care with the support of his family.
According to relatives, the couple, who were returning from the beach, were alone in their car during the tragic incident. Samara’s parents, brother, and sister-in-law, who were traveling separately, turned back upon learning of the accident. The lorry driver involved in the incident emerged unscathed, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the initial crash.
Samara’s body was transported to Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, for her final rites. Friends of the victim, originally from Dourados, have expressed their condolences on social media and extended their support to her grieving family in the aftermath of the tragedy.
