Sky has heavily invested in streaming technology with products like Sky Glass and the Sky Stream box gaining popularity in the UK for their user-friendly setup requiring only a Wi-Fi connection. While Sky remains a top choice due to its wide range of channels and features, other effortless TV-watching options are emerging.

One such option is Freely, which allows households to enjoy live and on-demand TV without an aerial or the need for a monthly subscription. Until recently, Freely was only available on select newer TV models, excluding older sets and certain brands like Samsung and LG.

However, a new device called the PLEIO Puck, developed by Netgem, now brings full Freely access to any TV. By simply plugging it into an HDMI port and connecting to broadband, users can access over 40 free channels, pause live TV, receive recommendations, and navigate through an interactive guide.

In addition to Freely, the Puck supports popular streaming apps like Disney+ and Netflix, offers over 200 games, and features full voice control. Priced at £99, the package includes the PLEIO Puck, a voice remote, a gamepad controller, and a three-month trial of the Netgem PLEIO subscription offering cloud games and extra channels. Subsequently, the optional subscription costs £9.99 per month.

Sylvain Thevenot, Managing Director of Netgem UK, expressed pride in launching PLEIO as a comprehensive entertainment solution tailored for today’s broadband-connected homes. The platform aims to simplify the viewing experience and provide exceptional value to consumers and operators alike.

Industry analyst Paolo Pescatore emphasized the need for affordable viewing options like the PLEIO device, as rising subscription costs are driving viewers towards fragmented and illegal streaming alternatives.
