In a mesmerizing sight, a bedazzled white flared pant leg moves with excitement, accompanied by the iconic gospel-inspired voice of Elvis resonating throughout the space.
Previously unseen photographs capture The King, adorned in his signature Vegas attire, making his way towards the stage surrounded by a large group, set to the powerful backdrop of his rendition of the Battle Hymn of the Republic: “His truth is marching on.”
Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has unearthed remarkable archive footage from Elvis Presley’s seven-year residency in Las Vegas starting in 1969, alongside rediscovered audio recordings where Elvis reflects on his life.
This exclusive material will be featured in Luhrmann’s upcoming movie EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, scheduled for release next month.
Elvis Aaron Presley, born in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Vernon and Gladys Presley, the surviving twin after his brother Jessie Garon’s tragic stillbirth, would have celebrated his 90th birthday on January 8.
Despite his untimely passing at age 42 due to heart failure at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 16, 1977, Elvis remains an enduring icon. The newly found images and footage from his Vegas shows, along with unreleased recordings from his 1972 North American tour, are poised to draw fans to cinemas worldwide.
Director Luhrmann describes the film as a unique blend of documentary and concert experience, aimed at fulfilling Elvis’s dream of a global tour through sharing this archival treasure with his admirers globally.
While Elvis achieved immense success with chart-topping hits like All Shook Up and iconic films such as Jailhouse Rock and Blue Hawaii, he rarely toured extensively, opting for singles, movies, and his acclaimed Vegas performances that attracted massive audiences.
EPiC is anticipated to captivate audiences with unseen footage, including a newly discovered video from Elvis’s legendary 1957 concert in Hawaii, and unheard recordings where Elvis candidly discusses his life and music.
The restored footage, predominantly filmed for Elvis’s concert films in the early 1970s, has undergone meticulous restoration over the past two years, including salvaging audio from various unconventional sources.
In a trailer snippet, Elvis asserts, “There’s been a lot written and a lot said but never from my side of the story.” The forthcoming movie aims to provide a fresh perspective on the legendary artist.
EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert is set to premiere in the UK in IMAX on February 20, 2026, followed by a wider release on February 27, 2026.
