The PDC has decided not to penalize Fallon Sherrock for her behavior during her match against Dave Chisnall at the World Championship. Sherrock playfully imitated an incident involving a drinks table that her ex-boyfriend, Cameron Menzies, had previously been involved in.
Menzies, who was left injured after taking out his frustration on the table following his loss to Charlie Manby, was supported by PDC chief executive Matt Porter. Porter emphasized the importance of providing assistance to players like Menzies for their well-being.
Both Sherrock and Menzies were eliminated in the first round of the championship. Sherrock struggled with her doubles game against Chisnall, missing 20 out of 23 attempts, resulting in a 3-0 defeat. On the other hand, Menzies, the 26th seed, lost 3-2 to Manby despite initially leading the match.
Following his defeat, Menzies revealed personal struggles, including the recent passing of his uncle, which affected his emotional state during the match. Despite his actions on stage, Menzies acknowledged his mistake and commended Manby for his performance.
Chisnall acknowledged that Sherrock posed a challenge in their match and mentioned that a better performance on her part could have changed the outcome significantly. Chisnall advanced to face Ricardo Pietreczko in the next round.
The World Championship continues with more matches scheduled, including young talent Beau Greaves facing Daryl Gurney. The championship promises exciting matchups as players vie for the prestigious title.
