Paul Doyle was visibly distraught during his court appearance, shedding tears as horrifying footage of his reckless actions was shown to his victims. In a packed courtroom at Liverpool Crown Court, Doyle hung his head in shame, wiping his eyes with a tissue while CCTV and dashcam videos of the chaos he caused were played. The emotional scenes unfolded as his victims and their families gathered to witness him being held accountable for the May 26 incident.

The courtroom was filled with gasps and tears as the footage revealed the extent of the carnage caused by Doyle’s actions. Football fans celebrating their team’s victory were seen being thrown over his car’s bonnet, while others were dragged under the wheels as he sped through the crowds. Shocking images of individuals trapped under Doyle’s vehicle were also presented, including footage of rescuing teenagers and a young boy from underneath the car.

Despite appearing well-dressed in court, Doyle struggled to contain his emotions, often breaking down in tears and finding it difficult to speak. The prosecuting counsel, Paul Greaney KC, described the footage of Doyle’s rampage as “truly shocking,” leaving families in the courtroom visibly disturbed and passing tissues among themselves. Doyle, who had previously denied any responsibility, changed his plea at the last minute before the prosecution could present its case against him.

Details of Doyle’s deceitful statements to the police were met with disbelief by the families in court. Despite claiming self-defense and panic, his dashcam footage contradicted his account, leading the court to label his version of events as “false and distorted.” Victim impact statements from some of the 134 injured individuals were read out, highlighting the mental and physical trauma they endured.

As the court heard about the devastating consequences of his actions, Doyle sat motionless, flanked by prison officers, showing no visible reaction. Doyle has since admitted to 31 charges, including offenses related to causing grievous bodily harm, affray, and dangerous driving. His sentencing is scheduled to conclude the following day.
