A pregnant music teacher, aged 33, has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse involving a child under 16. Naomi Tekea Craig, who is married, faces allegations of two counts of sexual penetration of a child aged over 13 and under 16, possession of child exploitation material, and persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16, reportedly occurring between 2024 and 2025.

Craig was working as a music teacher at the private Fredrick Irwin Anglican School during the alleged incidents and was well-liked by both parents and students. The offenses are said to have taken place in Mandurah, just south of Perth, Western Australia, with the school’s principal confirming Craig’s arrest in a letter to parents.

Authorities are currently investigating the case, emphasizing the protection of children as their top priority. They assured parents that there is no cause for concern regarding other students at the school. Craig is scheduled to appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on January 27.

The Fredrick Irwin Anglican School provides a mandatory music program for year 8 students, with tuition fees listed at $8,320 (£4,153) per year for older pupils. Reports indicate that Craig, who was on maternity leave at the time of her arrest, is married. A former schoolmate described her as a wonderful music teacher and a cheerful individual, expressing shock at the news.
