Donald Trump’s peace efforts in Ukraine may not be what they seem. Rather than genuine diplomacy, his actions appear to be motivated by business interests, aiming to benefit himself and his wealthy associates by aligning with Moscow. Trump’s recent remarks publicly criticizing Volodymyr Zelensky suggest a push for Ukraine to capitulate to Russian demands for a resolution.

By emphasizing Russia’s size advantage and chastising European allies for inefficiency, Trump’s strategy seems geared towards pressuring Ukraine into conceding territory and compromising its sovereignty. His proposed 28-point plan, deemed unacceptable by both Kyiv and Moscow, raises critical issues concerning Ukraine’s security and territorial integrity.

The individuals Trump has chosen to lead negotiations, notably financial figures like Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, indicate a profit-oriented approach rather than a genuine pursuit of peace. In contrast, Vladimir Putin’s representative, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, suggests Russia’s focus on strategic financial opportunities rather than resolving the conflict.

The recent talks in Florida, often portrayed as a peace summit, are seen by critics as a business-oriented meeting rather than a genuine diplomatic effort. Trump’s reliance on financial figures and pressure tactics rather than diplomats raises questions about the true intentions behind his peace proposal.

Critics argue that Trump’s actions, including pressuring Ukraine to accept terms and emphasizing Russia’s advantage, are not aimed at ending the conflict but rather at securing financial benefits for his allies. This approach, viewed as coercive and self-serving, risks undermining Ukraine’s interests and security in favor of personal gain.

In light of these concerns, Ukraine’s need for genuine partners in peace, rather than profit-seeking opportunists, becomes increasingly apparent. Trump’s proposal, viewed as a self-serving scheme that compromises Ukraine’s interests, raises doubts about the sincerity of his peace efforts.
