American citizens are being advised to depart from Iran as there is a potential escalation of protests that could turn violent, leading to arrests and injuries. The US Virtual Embassy for Iran website has issued a warning stating ongoing security measures, road closures, public transportation disruptions, and internet blockages in the country.

The Government of Iran has limited access to mobile, landline, and national internet networks, with airlines reducing or canceling flights to and from Iran. US citizens are urged to leave Iran immediately and prepare an exit strategy that does not rely on US government assistance.

In case leaving is not possible, individuals are advised to seek shelter in a secure location, stock up on essentials like food, water, and medications, and avoid participating in demonstrations. Staying informed through local media, keeping communication lines open with family and friends, and enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for security updates are recommended.

President Donald Trump’s recent comments on Iran wanting to negotiate with the US following nationwide protests and casualties have sparked speculation on potential diplomatic developments. Iranian officials have expressed openness to diplomacy but emphasized the need for mutual interests and concerns in any negotiations. Amidst pro-government demonstrations supporting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warnings have been issued declaring protest participation as a capital offense.
