Jessica Ennis-Hill, the Olympic champion, will be participating in Kevin Sinfield’s charitable initiative in Sheffield to support Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Ennis-Hill, a resident of Sheffield, has committed to running alongside Sinfield on Thursday during the fourth leg of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge.
Sinfield, who launched this challenge on Monday, aims to complete an ultra marathon every day for a week. This endeavor marks Sinfield’s sixth annual campaign for MND charities, having already raised over £10 million. The funds raised have notably contributed to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.
The inspiration for Sinfield’s philanthropic efforts stems from his former teammate and close friend Rob Burrow’s MND diagnosis. Ennis-Hill’s participation in this cause adds significant prominence, aiding in raising awareness for MND alongside Sinfield.
Known for her Olympic heptathlon gold in 2012 and three-time world championship titles, Ennis-Hill transitioned into a successful media career post-athletics retirement in 2016. She serves as a patron for various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.
Sinfield’s determination to find a cure for MND remains unwavering, especially following the recent news of England World Cup winner Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis. Moody is also planning fundraising events, including a dinner in April and a charity bike ride in 2026.
After completing the Sheffield leg of his challenge, Sinfield will continue through Cumbria, Scotland, and ultimately finish in Leeds on Sunday. For more information on the challenge, visit https://www.therhinos.co.uk/the-club/sinfield-together-2025.
