Millions of Gmail users will soon have the option to switch to a new email address. Google had previously hinted at this update, and now it is being rolled out globally. In an announcement on the Gmail blog page, Google confirmed that users can change their Google Account email ending in gmail.com to a new one also ending in gmail.com.

This change could be beneficial for users who wish to update their email address due to various reasons. However, Google emphasized that this feature is gradually being made available to all users and may not be accessible to everyone yet.

The new system will allow both the old and new email addresses to function simultaneously, ensuring that emails sent to the current Gmail address will be forwarded to the new one automatically. Google assures users that all account data, including photos, messages, and emails linked to the original address, will remain unaffected.

To check if you are eligible to switch to a new Gmail address without losing any emails, follow these steps:
– Visit myaccount.google.com/google-account-email on your computer and sign in if required.
– Click on Personal info in the top-left corner.
– Select Email, then Google Account email.
– Under “Google Account email,” click on Change Google Account email.
– If the option is not available, it may not be accessible to you yet.
– Enter the new username you desire, ensuring it has not been previously used or deleted.
– Click Change email, then confirm by selecting Yes, change email.
– Follow the on-screen instructions provided.

Upon completion, your new Gmail address will become your primary account email while the old address will be retained as an alternate email.
