A tragic incident occurred when a three-year-old boy was fatally attacked by his grandmother’s American Bulldog after entering the dog’s outdoor enclosure. The grandmother, Kristen Nelson, 51, tried to stop the dog from harming the child but was also injured in the process. They were swiftly taken to the hospital for urgent medical care, but unfortunately, the boy succumbed to his injuries. The grandmother was later transferred to another medical facility for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the dog responsible for the attack has been euthanized, ensuring the safety of the community.

Deputies from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office discovered that the boy had climbed into the outdoor area where the adult dog was kept, leading to the tragic incident near New York Mills, New York. This incident follows another tragic event where a 38-year-old woman, Barbara Brewington, was fatally attacked by a stray dog she had taken in six months prior. The stray dog turned aggressive towards her own pet, resulting in Barbara’s death despite efforts to intervene. Her pet survived the attack, and the stray dog was euthanized by animal control authorities.

Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton recounted how Ms. Brewington was found with severe injuries outside her home and passed away as emergency responders tried to save her. She managed to protect her smaller dog before collapsing. Ms. Brewington, a mother of three and a dental assistant at Village Family Dental, leaves behind a grieving family.
