Samsung has officially discontinued support for three of its older Galaxy smartphone models, indicating that they will no longer receive essential software updates. The affected models are the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, as noted on Samsung’s security update page, which tracks devices receiving regular security patches. While manufacturers typically provide security updates even after major Android version support ends, these specific models have been removed from the list, suggesting no further system updates will be available. Users of these phones, released in 2021, are advised to consider upgrading for enhanced security measures.

Initially, Samsung had committed to providing four years of Android updates and five years of security updates for the S21 series. However, as of 2026, these commitments have ceased. In contrast, newer Galaxy S models such as the latest Galaxy S25 now offer seven years of both Android and security updates, prolonging the device’s usability.

On a positive note, the Galaxy S21 FE continues to receive quarterly security updates and is expected to maintain this support for at least another year. For those contemplating an upgrade, it may be prudent to wait, as Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 series later this month, potentially featuring enhancements like a faster processor, improved camera, enhanced design, and better battery performance.
