Virgin Media is set to upgrade some broadband customers to the latest Hub 5 routers for improved performance and connectivity. Users still using older Hub 3 and Hub 4 devices will be eligible for the free upgrade, which features advanced Wi-Fi 6 technology for faster and more reliable connections.
The telecoms company plans to contact eligible customers via email over the next few weeks and months as the rollout progresses throughout 2026. The Hub 5 router boasts Wi-Fi 6 technology and seven internal antennas to enhance coverage in homes.
If you qualify for the upgrade, Virgin Media will inform you directly, so no action is required until you receive notification. You can also verify your eligibility by logging into your My Virgin Media account online.
To determine your current router model, check the sticker on the back or bottom of the device or use the Virgin Media Connect app. Upgrading to the Hub 5 router can enhance your broadband experience by providing wider coverage, better stability, and support for faster Gig1 speeds, enabling quicker downloads and streaming.
Wi-Fi 6 is the latest wireless networking technology, offering faster speeds, increased efficiency, and better performance in busy environments. It can handle multiple connected devices simultaneously, deliver improved performance across different frequency bands, and is energy-efficient, ideal for modern smart homes with high data demands.
