A 54-year-old man named Anthony Redmond, residing on Fort Austin Avenue in Plymouth, has been convicted of engaging in sexual activities with two students, including an incident that occurred within a school storage space. The case unfolded at Plymouth Crown Court following an inquiry by law enforcement officers. The incidents transpired in the 2000s when Redmond was employed as a geography instructor at a school in Plymouth.

Redmond faced charges related to five instances of misusing his authority to engage in sexual conduct with an underaged girl, two cases of similar behavior with another girl under his trust, and one count of indecency with a child, as detailed by Plymouth Live. The illicit activities occurred at various sites such as his residence, the school premises, and a hotel. Testimony revealed that one of the incidents took place inside a school storage area.

During the trial, one of Redmond’s victims expressed feeling “used and worthless” due to the former teacher’s actions. It was also disclosed in court that Redmond took the virginity of both girls. Despite denying the allegations, Redmond was unanimously found guilty by the jury on all charges. Following the verdict, his legal representative, Ali Rafiti, requested a pre-sentencing evaluation, emphasizing Redmond’s previous clean record.

Judge Robert Linford approved the evaluation request and released Redmond on bail, scheduling his sentencing for February 10. The judge commended the jury for their dedication, acknowledging their commitment to the trial spanning across the holiday period. He also offered them the option to be excused from jury duty for the next decade if they desired.
