Following a recent Windows 11 update by Microsoft, Samsung Galaxy Book owners are facing critical issues, specifically losing access to their C drive. This issue has affected various model numbers including NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA.

Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, stating that after installing the February 2026 security update (KB5077181) and subsequent updates, some Samsung devices are experiencing the error message “C: is not accessible – Access denied.” This error prevents users from accessing files and using applications like Microsoft Outlook, Office apps, web browsers, and system utilities.

The root cause of the issue is believed to be Samsung’s Galaxy Connect app, which offers functions like screen mirroring and file sharing between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been removed from the Windows app store temporarily while a solution is being developed.

Microsoft confirmed that the affected Galaxy Connect application was taken down to prevent further installations. Samsung has reissued a stable previous version of the app to prevent more devices from being impacted. However, recovery options for devices already affected are limited, with ongoing evaluation of remediation strategies by Samsung and Microsoft.

The timeline for a fix is uncertain. Samsung PC owners are advised to hold off on updating to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. Those currently on these versions are recommended to refrain from updating further until the issue is resolved.
