Asda has introduced a new pricing guarantee, offering lower prices on over 2,300 everyday items compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons’ loyalty card prices.
The supermarket chain now provides reduced prices on various products, including fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items, ensuring affordability for customers.
In addition, Asda is running a promotion in January where shoppers can receive 10% cashback through Asda Rewards Cashpot on all fresh produce purchases made in-store.
Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, expressed the company’s commitment to assisting families in managing post-Christmas financial strains by providing consistently low prices without the necessity of loyalty cards.
Following a challenging Christmas period, Asda witnessed a decline in market share to 11.4% in the 12 weeks leading up to December 28, with sales decreasing by 4.2%. This marked the 22nd consecutive month of sales decline for the supermarket chain.
Meanwhile, competitors like Tesco and Sainsbury’s experienced growth in customer acquisition during the same period, further solidifying their position ahead of Asda in the UK’s supermarket industry.
Tesco recently announced its Everyday Low Prices campaign, pledging to maintain the affordability of 3,000 branded products to cater to consumer needs.
