A specialist from British Gas has shared tips on how to address cold spots in your radiator, with a cost-effective solution priced at 97p. If you notice cold areas or strange noises emanating from your radiator, bleeding it could resolve the issue. This process involves using a radiator key, available for purchase at Screwfix for as low as 97p. Before starting the bleeding process, remember to turn off your heating system and ensure the radiator has cooled down. By turning the valve anti-clockwise with the key, any trapped air can be released. Be cautious not to overdo it, as excessive turning can impact boiler pressure. In case of persistent problems, seek assistance from a gas safe registered engineer. Additionally, a British Gas energy engineer recommends leaving your oven door open after cooking to utilize the residual heat effectively. Energy bills have recently increased, with the average household paying £1,758 annually for gas and electricity. While a price cap controls unit rates and standing charges, the total bill remains dependent on usage. Customers not on a fixed energy tariff fall under the price cap, which has risen to £1,711 per year for pre-payment meter users and £1,894 annually for those paying upon receipt of the bill.
