Donald Trump is forming a coalition of antagonists to weaken the United Nations, with Tony Blair lending a hand.

The genesis of Trump’s initiative stems from two key incidents. The first being the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Barack Obama, a figure Trump deeply despises. This award fueled Trump’s aspiration for his Nobel recognition, leading him to involve himself in resolving conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.

Initially focused on peace efforts in Gaza and its reconstruction, the Board of Peace expanded its objectives following a significant incident. During a UN speech in September, technical mishaps, including a malfunctioning escalator and faulty autocue displays, irked Trump, fueling his belief in a conspiracy against him.

Subsequently, Trump expressed his intent to dismantle the United Nations and establish a new entity under his leadership. Presently, Trump has unveiled the Board of Peace’s lineup, its global mandate, with him as the lifelong chairman, or until disinterest sets in.

Tony Blair’s engagement in the initiative appears linked to his rapport with Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law. Known for involvement in conflict resolution, especially in the Middle East, Blair’s participation in Gaza discussions predates Trump’s presidency.

Despite reservations about Trump’s ambitious Gaza redevelopment vision, Blair remains actively involved in the initiative. Notably, despite the UK’s reluctance to join a group including Russia, Blair holds a prominent position on the executive board.

During the launch event in Davos, Trump introduced the Supervillains constituting his alternative UN, featuring Viktor Orban, Hungary’s authoritarian leader, and Javier Milei, Argentina’s President known for suppressing dissent and indebtedness to the US.

Attendees from various countries, including Bahrain, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, were present at the event. Among the 20 participating nations, only two are considered “free” by Freedom House, with the majority facing restrictions on political and civil liberties.

Although Israel has agreed to join the initiative, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s absence at the ceremony reflects concerns of potential arrest for war crimes in Europe.

Trump’s enduring leadership ambitions within this coalition suggest a desire for perpetual influence akin to a childhood aspiration, possibly aligning with Boris Johnson’s “world king” fantasy, aiming for sustained authority beyond his presidency.
