Hayden Panettiere, known for her roles in hit TV shows like “Heroes” and “Nashville,” has passed away at the age of 36. The news was confirmed by her father, Skip, in a statement released to ABC News and The Guardian on Sunday.
The statement expressed deep sorrow over Hayden’s death, describing her as a shining light who brought immense love and joy to everyone who knew her and her fans worldwide. The cause of her death has not been disclosed, and as of now, there has been no response from Panettiere’s publicist to media inquiries.
Starting her career as a child actor in commercials and soap operas, Panettiere rose to fame in 2006 for her role as a cheerleader with superpowers in “Heroes.” The show gained popularity with its theme of “Save the cheerleader, save the world.”
Panettiere won three Teen Choice Awards for her role in “Heroes” and received a Grammy Award nomination for a children’s spoken word album following her appearance in the animated film “A Bug’s Life.”
Later, she starred in “Nashville” alongside Connie Britton, where she portrayed a bold country singer. Her performances on the show included her singing, which led to chart-topping hits on the country music charts and earned her two Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress.
Tragically, Panettiere’s younger brother, Jansen, who was also an actor, passed away at the age of 28 due to a heart condition in 2023. She had been candid about her struggles with alcoholism and depression, especially after giving birth to her daughter in 2014 with former heavyweight champion boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
In a recent interview, Panettiere clarified the custody arrangement for her 11-year-old daughter, who resides full-time with Klitschko in Ukraine. She addressed misconceptions about giving up custody, attributing the decision to mental health challenges and addiction issues she was facing at the time.
Panettiere’s journey included battles with depression and addiction, leading her to seek treatment in rehab during the filming of “Nashville.” Despite the challenges she faced, she remained resilient and determined to overcome her struggles.
Throughout her career, Panettiere appeared in various films such as the “Scream” series, “I Love You Beth Cooper,” and “Remember the Titans.” She spoke positively about her experiences, particularly in “Remember the Titans,” where she portrayed Sheryl Yoast, the spirited and football-loving daughter of Coach Bill Yoast.
Hayden Panettiere’s untimely passing has left a void in the entertainment industry, but her legacy as a talented and versatile actress will be remembered by fans and colleagues alike.
