Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps has released new photos from the site of a tragic accident involving British boxing star Anthony Joshua. The organization has also given detailed information about the incident that claimed the lives of two other individuals.

Joshua was hospitalized after being extricated from the wreckage of the SUV he was traveling in with a driver and other passengers on Nigeria’s Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The accident occurred when a tire blowout caused the vehicle to veer off course and collide with a stationary lorry.

Authorities from the Ogun State police have initiated an investigation into the crash, while the Federal Road Safety Corps has also provided an update.

On Monday, December 29, the FRSC posted four new images of the damaged SUV and the truck it crashed into at 2:10 pm GMT. Officials and witnesses can be seen at the scene, with the rear of the truck covered with tape.

In a statement, the FRSC confirmed the accident involving Anthony Joshua and a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The crash resulted in two fatalities, one injury, and Joshua sustaining minor injuries.

The injured person received medical attention, and the deceased were taken to Livewell Morgue in Ajaka, Sagamu. The Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division has been notified for further investigation.

The statement mentioned that the vehicle Joshua was in was speeding, leading to the loss of control and collision with the truck. The FRSC emphasized the dangers of speeding and improper overtaking on Nigerian roads, urging motorists to prioritize safety.

The Ogun state government reported that the two deceased individuals were foreign nationals. Joshua, who remains hospitalized, has not made any public statements following the accident.
