An incident occurred this morning where a bus slid on an icy road and collided with a marble pillar near a park in Liverpool, UK. The blue Arriva bus sustained damage to its front right side at the junction of Aigburth Drive and Mossley Hill Drive. Emergency services responded to the scene, and police closed off a section of the road.

Merseyside Police reported that they received a call at 6.05am regarding the bus crash. The bus, en route to Aigburth Road and Aigburth Vale, hit the pillar. Authorities remained at the scene until 10am, coordinating with the council to remove the bus. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board, and no injuries were reported.

A spokesperson from Arriva Merseyside confirmed the involvement of one of their buses in the incident. The bus was not in service at the time, and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.

Following heavy rain in Liverpool, much of the snow and ice from the previous day had melted. The UK is experiencing an Arctic blast expected to persist throughout the week, with the Met Office issuing new weather warnings. A yellow warning for snow is in effect in various parts of England and Wales, with potential disruptions expected.

The severe wintry conditions are attributed to Storm Goretti, bringing strong winds and snowfall. South Wales and parts of England are likely to see significant snow accumulations. Additionally, disruptions due to strong winds are anticipated in southwest England.

The recent cold spell led to the coldest night of the winter, reaching temperatures as low as minus 12.5C. This weather event resulted in school closures and travel disturbances.
