A convicted prisoner who escaped from custody has been apprehended by law enforcement authorities, as confirmed by the police.
Kieran Cameron, aged 43, absconded from HMP Thorn Cross in Warrington, situated between Liverpool and Manchester, on January 6. He was serving a 23-year prison term for attempting murder in Dorset back in 2016.
Cheshire Police had requested the public’s assistance in locating Cameron and advised against approaching him. However, in a recent update, the police announced his arrest in the Hulme area of Greater Manchester. The police statement read, “We are pleased to announce the successful apprehension of a man who had escaped from HMP Thorn Cross.”
The police further stated, “Kieran Cameron, 43 years old, was found in the Hulme area of Greater Manchester by officers from the Cheshire Police Serious and Organised Crime unit.”
Cameron had been convicted for participating in an assault in February 2016, during which he and another individual, Michael O’Rourke, attacked a 22-year-old man from Poole, stabbing him approximately 10 times.
Court proceedings revealed that both Cameron and O’Rourke were under threat from a rival group and sought to eliminate the victim, known to them, to shift blame onto their adversaries. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the abdomen, neck, and back of the head during the February 2016 incident.
Detective Sergeant Jamie Halford, from Bournemouth CID, expressed satisfaction with the court’s sentencing, emphasizing the severe consequences for violent knife-related crimes. He commended the prompt actions of bystanders who aided the victim and the medical personnel at Poole Hospital for their care.
