A specialist in energy matters has shared the specific indoor temperature that can help prevent the growth of mould in your living space.

Mould is a common issue that, if not addressed, can lead to severe health consequences. It typically arises due to excessive moisture and can manifest on various surfaces such as walls and ceilings.

To combat mould growth, there are measures you can take. Ben Gallizzi, an expert in energy matters at Uswitch.com, has highlighted the recommended temperature range to hinder the development of mould spores.

In an interview with The Sun, he stated, “Maintaining a warm environment in your home can be effective in preventing mould growth, especially during the colder seasons. The Energy Saving Trust suggests that individuals in good health should keep their homes heated to a temperature ranging between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius.”

Furthermore, it is essential to ensure that the indoor temperature does not fall below 15 degrees Celsius to prevent condensation, a phenomenon that occurs when warm air meets colder surfaces.

This guidance comes amid the announcement of an increase in energy bills for the upcoming winter season. The Ofgem-mandated price cap will elevate from £1,720 to £1,755 for a standard dual fuel household that pays via direct debit.
