A family residing in Squamish, British Columbia, had a harrowing experience as they narrowly avoided a construction mishap on Hamilton Street. Claire Johnstone was preparing to leave her hotel with her young son when a scaffold suddenly collapsed beside their car on August 11. The loud crash startled her, and she quickly realized the danger to their vehicle. With a glass roof, Johnstone saw metal structures and debris hitting the car, prompting her to urgently instruct her husband to drive away from the building.

Feeling vulnerable and powerless, Johnstone recounted the frantic moments in the car with her mother and partner. After parking the car and ensuring their safety, they witnessed two injured men trapped in the aftermath of the accident while awaiting emergency assistance. The entire street was closed for investigation by the authorities.

Despite the traumatic experience, the family proceeded to the hospital for a check-up on their son, Theo. Reviewing the Tesla footage later, Johnstone was shocked to see the debris landing perilously close to where they were seated in the vehicle.

The incident left Johnstone emotionally shaken, contemplating the close call that could have had devastating consequences. Reflecting on the events, she acknowledged the significance of the precious time spent with her son. Grateful for their safety, Johnstone couldn’t help but ponder the what-ifs and the randomness that spared them from a tragic outcome.

The impact of the incident lingered on Johnstone, affecting her sleep and daily routines. However, she found solace in the cherished moments shared with her son, realizing the value of their time together. The family recognized their fortune in escaping unscathed and expressed gratitude for their safety in the face of potential disaster.
