A court has heard allegations that a female prison officer engaged in inappropriate relationships with inmates and smuggled drugs into HMP Peterborough. Kayleigh Robson, 29, is accused of fostering romantic connections with prisoners at the Category B prison over a nine-month span. Additionally, she is alleged to have facilitated the smuggling of cannabis and tobacco into the privately-operated facility, and participated in a suspected money laundering scheme.

Robson, a resident of Grantham, Lincolnshire, pleaded not guilty to all charges. During the brief court appearance, she only confirmed her personal details and pleas.

The accusations state that between June 1, 2020, and February 28, 2021, Robson engaged in intimate relationships with inmates, and between July 23, 2020, and April 19, 2021, she conspired with others to introduce contraband into the prison. Furthermore, she is accused of involvement in a money laundering arrangement through bank transfers.

The specific charge of misconduct alleges that Robson, in her capacity as a prison officer, abused the public’s trust by engaging in intimate relationships with prisoners at Peterborough.

In court, Robson, along with three male co-defendants, denied charges related to conspiring to bring contraband into HMP Peterborough and money laundering. Two additional individuals are scheduled to appear in subsequent proceedings.

Robson and her co-accused were granted bail, with a two-week trial scheduled for April 2027 at Huntingdon Crown Court. Judge Philip Grey informed the defendants of the potential consequences of failing to attend the trial, emphasizing the importance of compliance with court procedures.
