Tributes pour in following the tragic passing of former NASCAR driver Chase Pistone at the age of 42. While the cause of death remains undisclosed, Pistone’s family has urged the sharing of the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline alongside reports on his demise. Nick, the grieving brother, confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media.
Expressing his sorrow, Nick shared on Facebook, “My dear brother and closest companion is no longer with us. I am shattered and unsure if I can ever come to terms with this loss. Chase, I already miss you and hope you have found peace. I love you and miss you dearly.”
Renowned NASCAR figure Bubba Wallace also paid homage to Pistone, recalling their racing days together in legends cars and expressing deep sadness over the loss.
Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Chase Pistone, the grandson of ‘Tiger’ Tom Pistone, a celebrated driver, clinched over 80 feature victories across various racing categories like Legends, Late Model, and USAR. Noteworthy among his accomplishments are his four Summer Shootout Champions Legends wins between 1999 and 2005.
Pistone embarked on his NASCAR journey in 2005 in the Craftsman Truck Series, competing for Green Light Racing. He participated in a total of 10 races spanning NASCAR’s three national series, primarily in the O’Reilly and Truck series, before concluding his NASCAR career in 2014.
In a heartfelt letter shared on Hickory Motor Speedway’s Facebook page, Pistone’s sister-in-law, Phaedra, requested the venue to consider honoring Chase’s memory at this weekend’s race. She emphasized Chase’s deep connection to the Speedway and the profound significance it held for their family.
Responding to the request, Hickory Motor Speedway pledged to honor Chase’s memory before the upcoming race. General Manager Kevin Piercy fondly remembered Chase as a cheerful presence who will be dearly missed.
