Google is introducing a new feature to Gmail that aims to simplify managing subscriptions and decluttering inboxes. With the upcoming “Manage subscriptions” function, Gmail users will have a centralized area within settings to monitor active subscriptions and track the volume of messages received from companies.
The new feature will offer a streamlined process for unsubscribing from unwanted subscriptions with just a single touch, eliminating the hassle of manually figuring out the opt-out process. Once initiated, Gmail will automatically send an unsubscribe request to the sender, making it easier for users to control their inbox content.
Google highlighted the common issue of overwhelming subscription emails inundating inboxes, ranging from irrelevant promotions to outdated newsletters. The tech giant emphasized that the new feature will enable users to efficiently manage their subscription emails and easily unsubscribe from unwanted ones, all from a single location.
To access the “Manage subscriptions” feature, users can navigate to the top-left corner of their inbox and select the option. Google has announced that the feature is gradually rolling out on web, Android, and iOS platforms in select countries, providing users with enhanced control over their email content.
In addition to empowering users with subscription management tools, Google shared that Gmail now boasts a high level of email security, blocking over 99.9% of spam, phishing, and malware. The company also introduced new AI-based defenses that have successfully reduced scam emails by 35%, further enhancing email protection for users.
