Home Bargains has reconfirmed its decision to shut down for a three-day break during the festive season. The popular discount retailer has a tradition of closing its stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to give its dedicated employees some well-deserved time off. This year, all stores will also be closed on Christmas Day as usual.

In a recent Facebook post, Home Bargains shared the news, expressing gratitude to its hardworking staff and encouraging them to unwind and enjoy the holiday season with their families. The post conveyed warm wishes from the team at Home Bargains.

For the past five years, Home Bargains has adhered to the practice of closing on Boxing Day. Typically, store hours extend until 8 pm on weekdays and Saturdays, with Sunday hours concluding around 4 pm.

With over 600 stores nationwide, the discount retailer’s decision to close its doors has garnered positive feedback from both employees and customers. Many have praised the company for prioritizing its staff’s well-being and family time during the holidays.

In other news, Home Bargains has implemented advanced AI camera technology to enhance security at self-checkouts by detecting unscanned items. The collaboration with tech firms SAI (Storewide Active Intelligence) and Everseen aims to identify any irregularities such as unscanned or skipped items during checkout.

This innovative measure is part of the company’s efforts to combat retail crime and enhance security protocols. The use of AI cameras has proven to be more effective in preventing theft compared to traditional security methods, as highlighted by Home Bargains’ operations director, Paul Rowland.

The installation of AI cameras reflects the retailer’s commitment to ensuring a safe and efficient shopping experience for its customers while maintaining a secure shopping environment.
