A 31-year-old bartender known for his infectious smile was discovered lifeless in his London apartment following a suspected heart attack. Matteo Leone was found unconscious by his flatmates in the early hours of Sunday, January 4.
Despite immediate emergency response, Matteo could not be revived, with indications suggesting he passed away in his sleep. While awaiting post-mortem findings, initial assessments lean towards a potential heart attack as the likely cause of death.
Matteo was described as content with his role as a bartender in London, with a photo capturing his joy while mixing drinks at Shoreditch’s Looking Glass Cocktail Club.
Originally from Canosa di Puglia, Matteo had relocated to London after completing his studies to immerse himself in city life and enhance his English skills. He had previously resided in Castiglione Messer Raimondo, near Pescara.
His grieving father, Graziano Leone, a police station chief in Pescara, rushed to London upon receiving the tragic news. Matteo is survived by his mother and three siblings, with a memorial vigil held in his honor at Shoreditch Park.
Preparations are underway to repatriate Matteo’s remains to Italy. A friend, Mirko, expressed his sorrow, reminiscing about Matteo’s jovial presence and vibrant personality, vowing to cherish those memories forever.
“Safe travels, Matté.”
