A young man was discovered in a confused state in a forested area five days after attending a New Year’s Eve church service in Bertioga, Brazil. Eduardo Mauricio da Silva, 23, went missing on December 31 after requesting to be dropped off on the side of a highway in the Sítio São João neighborhood. He last contacted his family around 2am on January 1, asking his father to arrange a car using an app. His family reported him missing later that day and received surveillance footage showing him in a wooded area in the Caiubura neighborhood.
Eduardo was eventually found by his family and friends in a remote forest on January 5, appearing weak, malnourished, and disoriented. He is currently hospitalized in Baixada Santista. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, but his aunt mentioned that he seems emotionally affected by the experience.
Meanwhile, on the same day Eduardo went missing, another man named Roberto Farias Tomaz disappeared while hiking on Pico Paraná in Brazil. After five days of searching, Roberto was located after walking 20km through challenging terrain to the Cacatu area of Antonina. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation after surviving on limited supplies of food and water.
Both men’s miraculous discoveries have brought relief to their families and friends after enduring days of uncertainty.
