A soon-to-be mother was violently pulled into a pond and almost drowned by her unborn child’s father following her sharing of photos from their baby shower. The pregnant teenager, who remains unidentified, posted pictures with Dominic Thomas on Facebook, triggering his aggressive reaction due to his hidden relationship with another woman.
The 19-year-old Thomas, from Kansas, was concerned about his secret girlfriend seeing the images and sent threatening messages to his pregnant partner, expressing his frustration. He was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for the attempted murder.
In response to the threats, the 17-year-old expectant mother warned Thomas about the consequences on their child if anything happened to her. The police reported that the couple had been arguing after the girlfriend discovered Thomas’ deceitful relationship with another woman.
The distressing incident unfolded after a series of threatening text messages sent by Thomas before he attempted to drown his girlfriend in Wichita. He lured her to a nearby pond under false pretenses, where he physically assaulted her, pushing her towards the water and holding her head under.
Thomas halted the attack when the victim mentioned their child, claiming it affected him emotionally. However, he admitted to authorities his intention to drown her due to the predicament with his other girlfriend. Thomas, now 24, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder after a trial in 2024.
