Brighton & Hove Albion has officially secured the services of Promise David for the upcoming Premier League season. The Canadian striker will join the English club on a season-long loan from Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. The agreement also includes an obligation to purchase David for a reported fee of $29.7 million US, subject to specific undisclosed conditions being met.

Union Saint-Gilloise confirmed that David will be competing in the Premier League starting from the following season, marking a significant transfer for the Belgian club. The 25-year-old forward arrives at Brighton after a successful tenure at Union, where he netted 41 goals in 82 matches, contributing to the club’s first league title in 90 years in 2025. David extended his contract with Union through June 2029 last year.

Having represented Canada at the recent World Cup, David showcased his talent by scoring a goal despite limited playing time due to a hip injury. He has four goals in 14 appearances for the Canadian national team. Originally born in Brampton, Ontario, to Nigerian parents, David initially played for Nigeria’s under-23 team before switching allegiances to Canada in 2025 following approval from FIFA.

Brighton’s sporting director, Mike Cave, expressed his excitement about signing David, emphasizing the striker’s goal-scoring prowess, physical attributes, and international experience. Cave highlighted David’s extensive career journey, which included stints in Croatia, Malta, and Estonia before his move to Belgium in 2024.

David’s arrival adds depth to Brighton’s squad as they aim to build on their eighth-place finish in the previous Premier League season. The club, which has maintained its top-flight status in England for nine consecutive seasons, anticipates David’s impact as he enters his prime playing years and continues to evolve in their competitive environment.
