In Minneapolis, a protester reportedly bit off a Homeland Security agent’s finger on the same day a federal officer fatally shot an American citizen. Following a video showing the shooting of Alex Pretti by a Border Patrol agent, Department of Homeland Security officials mentioned that an officer would lose a finger due to an attack by a demonstrator.
Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Tricia McLaughlin, confirmed the incident, stating that during the riots, a protester bit off an HSI officer’s finger. The officer is expected to lose the finger as a result.
The identities of those involved in the finger-biting incident are yet to be verified. The reason behind the attack leading to the finger being bitten off remains unclear, but civil unrest seems to be escalating in the city following the deadly shooting.
Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old American citizen and ICU nurse, was fatally shot by a federal agent earlier today. While Homeland Security claimed Pretti resisted disarmament violently and was armed with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and two magazines, details surrounding the shooting are still murky.
In response to the shooting, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz urged President Donald Trump to remove the “thousands of violent, untrained officers” from Minnesota. This call for action comes after the recent shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, which sparked protests nationwide.
