Seven workers lost their lives in a Ukrainian steel plant during a Russian assault on the city of Zaporizhzhia on Tuesday. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Moscow utilized North Korean ballistic missiles in the attack. The Zaporizhstal plant was compelled to stop its operations after being struck by Russian Zircon hypersonic missiles, guided aerial bombs, and ballistic missiles supplied by Pyongyang.
The strike occurred as employees were seeking shelter following an air-raid alert, according to the parent company Metinvest Group. The company confirmed seven fatalities and 24 injuries. The attack resulted in a complete halt of production at the plant, with other damaged sites operating at reduced capacity.
The Russian Defence Ministry reported that Russian forces targeted a metallurgical plant in Zaporizhzhia that produced flat-rolled steel used by the Ukrainian military. Additionally, Russian forces struck the Nova Poshta sorting complex in Kyiv, which was described as a facility for distributing dual-use goods, including drone components and electronic warfare equipment.
Furthermore, Ukraine conducted drone attacks, resulting in casualties in various regions. Ukrainian strikes in Russia targeted oil refineries and warehouses, including those of the online retailer Wildberries. Russia has retaliated with North Korean ballistic missiles among other weaponry, expanding its military cooperation with Pyongyang.
The conflict continues to escalate as both sides engage in strategic strikes and military actions, with casualties and damages reported on both sides.
