The annual Uswitch awards were recently presented at a glamorous event in London’s Canary Wharf, revealing some unexpected winners. A panel of esteemed judges, including Mirror Online’s Technology Editor, in conjunction with the public, determined the recipients. Surprisingly, smaller, value-oriented mobile networks emerged victorious in the 2026 Uswitch rankings for the best mobile provider.
VOXI, Tesco Mobile, Lebara, and giffgaff showcased outstanding performance, securing accolades such as Mobile Network of the Year, Best Mobile Network for Customer Service, and Best Mobile Network for Roaming. In the realm of broadband services, EE claimed the top spot, despite its renowned mobile network reputation, by winning the National Broadband Provider of the Year award.
Other notable broadband achievers included YouFibre, Plusnet, Vodafone, and Virgin Media. Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at Uswitch, highlighted the evolving consumer priorities, emphasizing the significance of return on investment over mere affordability in 2026.
Doku underlined the trend of consumers favoring networks that offer superior value for money, as evidenced by the success of smaller mobile providers at the awards ceremony. Reliability emerged as a pivotal factor for broadband users, particularly for those working remotely, where a stable connection is paramount.
