Which? has identified the leading current account providers and advised customers to consider switching. The consumer rights organization evaluated various aspects such as fees, overdrafts, charges, and benefits in its recent survey, which included feedback from over 6,600 account holders. Six providers, including Chase, Danske Bank, First Direct, Monzo, Nationwide, and Starling, were recognized as Which? Recommended Providers (WRP).

Starling emerged as the top performer with an 86% customer satisfaction score, earning its seventh WRP badge. It received top ratings for online and mobile banking and four stars for customer service. Monzo followed closely with an 85% customer score and five stars for mobile banking convenience. First Direct maintained its strong reputation with an 84% customer score, marking over a decade as a WRP.

Nationwide also achieved an 84% customer score, excelling in online banking. Chase, a digital bank under JPMorgan, secured an 82% customer rating, with top scores for its mobile app. Danske Bank received an 80% customer score, with positive feedback for customer service and online banking.

Allied Irish Bank narrowly missed the WRP status despite an 85% customer score. Revolut scored 83% but was not named a WRP due to its e-money provider status in the UK. The survey highlighted that 37% of account holders have remained loyal to the same provider for over 20 years.

TSB ranked lowest with a 67% customer score, while Virgin Money, Santander, and Halifax tied at 71%. Sam Richardson, Deputy Editor of Which? Money, emphasized the importance of switching to benefit from perks like fee-free spending abroad and switching bonuses. He highlighted the ease of the switching process, including the seamless transfer of direct debits.

Representatives from TSB and Virgin Money reaffirmed their commitment to improving customer service and digital offerings. Santander and Halifax were approached for comment by the Mirror.
