Storm Goretti has caused widespread disruption, with thousands of individuals experiencing power outages, school closures, and travel disturbances. The storm brought nearly 100mph winds to various regions, prompting a rare red warning for life-threatening conditions in the South West.

As of Friday afternoon, over 40,000 properties in the South West were without power, with additional outages in the West Midlands, East Midlands, and Wales. However, efforts are underway to restore power to affected homes, with approximately 150,000 customers already back online.
