In a tragic incident in Texas, a man named Jose ‘Eddie’ Heriberto Padron Castillo, 45, was fatally attacked by his two pit bulls in the front yard of his residence on Louisiana Avenue in Bacliff. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the unfortunate event that occurred on Sunday.
According to witnesses, the attack started when the victim attempted to stop his dogs from chasing a passing golf cart. Neighbor Jesus Excontitta heard Eddie’s distress calls for help and courageously intervened by using a machete and a butcher knife to fend off the aggressive pit bulls.
Despite his efforts, one of the dogs persisted in the attack, leading Jesus to continue his desperate struggle to save Eddie. The violent ordeal only ended when law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and had to shoot one of the dogs to stop the aggression.
Eddie was rushed to a nearby hospital and received emergency medical treatment, but tragically succumbed to his injuries. The two dogs were euthanized by the authorities following the incident.
Local reports revealed that there had been previous complaints about aggressive dogs in the area, causing some residents to avoid the street. Jesus defended Eddie’s care for the pit bulls, emphasizing that they had been well looked after.
A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist with funeral expenses for Eddie, who is fondly remembered as a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, known for his positive energy and kindness towards others. His untimely passing has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew him, including his daughters, grandson, mother, and siblings.
