Luke Littler shared that a remark from Ricardo Pietreczko motivated him to defeat the German player 10-6, securing a spot in the quarter-finals of the Players Championship Finals. Despite initially falling behind 3-1 to Pietreczko, Littler, also known as ‘The Nuke,’ staged a comeback, winning nine out of the next 12 legs with an impressive average to advance to the next round in Minehead.

Pietreczko’s comment during the interval, with the score tied at 5-5, served as a catalyst for Littler’s determination. Reflecting on the match, Littler disclosed, “We came back at 5-5, and he mentioned, ‘I was only expecting to win one leg, and now I’ve won five.’ This fueled my resolve to win the game and showcase my skills.”

The young sensation, born in 2007, recently claimed the world No.1 title following his triumph at the Grand Slam. He displayed exceptional form with an average of 102.67 and hit six 180s during the match. Littler also recreated a memorable 121 finish that had caused tension between him and Pietreczko in a previous encounter.

Assessing his performance, Littler expressed his determination to improve, stating, “I wasn’t satisfied when trailing 3-2, but I managed to level the score at five-all and push forward. Despite some shortcomings in my doubles play, I aim to refine my skills for the upcoming matches.”

Littler is set to face world No.9 Chris Dobey in the quarter-final match on Sunday, with the possibility of meeting the winner of Gerwyn Price versus Daryl Gurney in the semi-finals. Other matchups include Nathan Aspinall against Josh Rock and James Wade versus Jermaine Wattimena in the afternoon session at the Players Championship Finals.
