The UFC Freedom 250 event, hosted at the White House in June, was hailed as a major success by TKO officials. However, despite the positive feedback, the financial outcome paints a different picture.

TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of UFC, disclosed that they invested around $60 million in production expenses for the event on June 14, which featured a highly anticipated fight card. During the company’s recent earnings call, CFO Andrew Schleimer acknowledged that they incurred a loss of approximately $30 million from the grand event, commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary and President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.

Schleimer informed investors that the company faced higher-than-usual costs, partially offset by global partnership sales. Notably, the event didn’t sell tickets, resulting in no revenue from live events. The financial impact led to a significant loss for UFC and the overall consolidated margins.

The MMA spectacle attracted over 34 million viewers worldwide and showcased a seven-fight card where every match ended in knockout or technical knockout, a first in UFC history. Held on the White House’s South Lawn, the event featured 14 elite fighters and drew an audience of about 4,300 attendees, including members of Congress, business leaders, military personnel, and Trump administration figures.

Although TKO suffered a financial setback, CEO Ari Emanuel expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcomes, emphasizing its positive impact on UFC’s brand, mixed martial arts, media exposure, and fan engagement. Other executives, like COO Mark Shapiro, highlighted the event’s success in generating significant earned media value and strengthening commercial partnerships.

Despite the event’s achievements, UFC President Dana White confirmed that there are no plans for a return to the White House due to the exorbitant costs involved. White, a close ally of Trump, acknowledged the uniqueness of the experience but stated that the expenses were prohibitive for a repeat performance.
