Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to certain households this week following snowfall in various regions of the UK.

Cold Weather Payments, valued at £25 each, are granted whenever the average temperature in your locality drops to zero degrees or lower for seven consecutive days. In cases of prolonged cold spells, multiple payments may be received.

Currently, 18 postcode areas have qualified for two Cold Weather Payments, totaling £50, triggered on December 30 and January 6. The eligible postcode areas include:

The Mirror recently disclosed that 451 postcode areas are eligible for Cold Weather Payments this year. Individuals receiving specific benefits or mortgage support are entitled to these payments.

If entitled, the funds will be automatically deposited into your bank account within 14 working days. Exceptions apply if you have a newborn or a child under five joining your household, requiring a separate application process.

Managed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Cold Weather Payments scheme will remain active until March 31, 2026.

Notably, Cold Weather Payments are not applicable in Scotland, where the Winter Heating Payment scheme, worth £59.75, has replaced them.
