Young Calgary Boy Saved from Drowning in BC River; Family Concerned for Damaged Lungs

A young boy from Calgary who was saved from drowning in a river in British Columbia is now in the hospital recovering, with his family expressing concern over his damaged lungs. Nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after going underwater. Quick-acting beachgoers came to his aid, pulling him from the water shortly after he vanished. According to an official statement from the RCMP, the boy was trapped against fallen trees by the river’s strong current before being rescued and resuscitated on the shore. Authorities estimate that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes. The child is currently receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where his family remains by his side. His mother, Maria Warren, emphasized the importance of being present for her son, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
