The Montreal Roses made the decision to dismiss their first-ever head coach, Robert Rositoiu, following their exit from the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, revealed the news on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his role in establishing the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of parting ways with a coach, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh perspective to navigate the remainder of the season and advance the club’s progress. Despite Rositoiu’s efforts, the decision was deemed necessary for the team’s development.
Currently holding the second position in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches left in the regular season. Rositoiu was appointed as head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the team’s debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto as the club begins the search for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu.
